With over 19 years of clinical experience in New Zealand healthcare, Harpreet Kaur brings extensive expertise gained across both primary and secondary care settings, including hospital, outpatient, specialist, aged care, and general practice services.

Her broad clinical background has shaped a practical, compassionate, and evidence-based approach to healthcare, focused on delivering personalised care that makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

Harpreet has a strong clinical interest in long-term condition management and is an accredited Diabetes Specialist Nurse Practitioner. She works closely with patients to improve understanding of their health, build confidence in managing conditions, and achieve sustainable long-term wellbeing outcomes.

Building on her extensive experience, Harpreet became a Nurse Practitioner accredited by the Nursing Council of New Zealand. Nurse Practitioners are advanced clinicians with prescribing authority who diagnose, treat, and manage a wide range of health conditions while working collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.

Harpreet is committed to providing evidence based, high-quality, accessible healthcare for the local community. She is passionate about building genuine patient relationships and delivering care that is respectful, culturally aware, and centered around individual needs.

Harpreet is fluent in English, Punjabi, and Hindi. She connects easily with a diverse patient population, ensuring inclusive and approachable care.

Professional Leadership, Education & Mentorship

As a senior Nurse Practitioner, Harpreet provides training, mentorship, and professional support to healthcare assistants, enrolled nurses, registered nurses, specialty nurses and nurse practitioner candidates.

​

Her mentorship areas include diabetes care, primary care,  long-term condition management, older people’s health, and nurse prescribing practicums.

​

Harpreet has successfully supported Nurse Practitioner candidates throughout their professional journey, offering guidance, supervision, and clinical mentorship to help them achieve registration and advanced practice goals.

​

She is also actively involved in tertiary education and contributes to teaching and academic development in collaboration with the University of Auckland.

Academic Roles & Examination Experience

Harpreet holds several academic and examiner roles supporting postgraduate nursing education in New Zealand.

​

She has served as a Clinical Viva Examiner across NURSPRAC specialty courses, assessing students’ ability to apply evidence-based knowledge within advanced nursing practice.

​

She has also worked as an Examiner & Assessor for Level 9 Clinical Reasoning in Pharmacotherapeutics, evaluating registered nurses preparing for prescribing roles in areas such as clinical reasoning, safe prescribing, and advanced pharmacology.

​

In addition, Harpreet has experience examining postgraduate research projects, dissertations, and professional portfolios, helping maintain high academic standards and supporting the future nursing workforce.

​

Through these roles, she contributes to upholding rigorous professional and educational standards aligned with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.

​

Harpreet is a member of the national committee with the Aotearoa College of Diabetes Nurses and has contributed to professional portfolio assessments as part of the college’s accreditation process.
